Wohler Technologies today introduced a new self-contained rackmount enclosure designed specifically for the company's award-winning HDCC Series closed-captioning/subtitling cards.
The 1RU enclosure holds up to two side-by-side HDCC Series cards along with dual redundant power supplies, and gives broadcasters a convenient solution for addressing up to four independent channels of captioning, subtitling, or custom ancillary data processing and management solutions. The inclusion of dual redundant power supplies further enables use of the HDCC cards within the transmission chain, for which broadcasters require increased reliability and dependable 24/7 365-day operation.

New Softel Multichannel Ancillary Data Processor Delivers Rack-Space and Power Savings With Even Greater Versatility
|
Posted: 30/08/2011

|
Softel has announced the launch of vFlex(TM) MC, an extension of its popular ancillary data processor, vFlex, to support multichannel workflows. This compact new processor addresses the challenge that broadcasters face as their channel count increases faster than available rack space. Available with a choice of four, eight, or 18 channels, vFlex MC provides VBI and VANC subtitle and cue encoding/decoding in as little as a single 1-RU rack space, and it reduces both power consumption and heat dissipation.
vFlex MC is a variant of the Softel vFlex SDI VBI and VANC ancillary data processor. Initially, vFlex MC cards will be available for Teletext and OP47 subtitle encoding, and for Softel Oliver(TM) ad insertion cue encoding and decoding solutions, in either SD or HD SDI video signals. vFlex MC has also been designed to work with Axon's complete range of Synapse(TM) video and audio processing cards to further optimise rack-space utilization.
"This is an example of how Softel's highly regarded product solutions team demonstrably listens to and reacts to market feedback," says Sam Pemberton, Softel chief executive. "We know that multichannel solutions, rack space and supplier interconnectivity are all key operational drivers, and we are proud that vFlex MC addresses all three of those requirements."
The Softel vFlex family of ancillary data processors provides a unique and versatile single-unit solution encompassing everything from data encoding, opt cue/ad insertion, encode/decode and widescreen signalling to graphic insertion.
